L-Shaped Kitchen Countertop

Open space kitchen islands get the raves these days as it allows its users the best of both worlds: you can be whipping up dishes while entertaining guests. But aside from kitchen islands, there’s a hidden charm in an L-shaped kitchen countertop.

L-shaped kitchen countertops are a type of layout where the countertop extends along two adjacent walls forming the letter “L.” The two countertop sections meet at a 90-degree angle, forming the L shape allowing efficient use of the kitchen space. L-shaped kitchen countertops also serve the same function as kitchen islands connecting dining and kitchen areas.

We’re loving how this L-shaped kitchen countertop was planned in this limited space. After perfecting the kitchen work triangle (yup, the minimum connecting movement between the fridge, cooking top, and the sink) it made use of the limited space by maximizing the countertops making it into an L-shape counter. It’s like getting the purpose of your kitchen island while having extra extension for a countertop when you have limited space. Adding three cushioned stools in the outer area adds charm as it gives off the feeling of a kitchen bar where guests can hang out while the host is preparing the food.

The edges of the L-shaped countertop were strategically trimmed to avoid sharp edges and give the impression of an extra space.

What made the kitchen design extra special and have a cohesive look, is how the appliances, tiles, hardwares, and kitchen wares were chosen. This kitchen worked with a gray, white, and silver color palette that reflected in their chosen color of fridge, oven and cooking top, sink, faucet, cabinet hardwares, stool chairs, the lighting color and fixture, down to the small gray tiles installed as the kitchen backsplash. Every detail played a role that contributed to its harmonious look.

Adding small pops of color like a plant or fruits makes this kitchen homey that you can’t help but feel invited to grab a chair and enjoy a snack.
