To have a tub or not to have a tub? That used to be the question.
Fortunately, these days you won’t have to give up having a tub when you have a limited space. Bathroom tubs now come in smaller sizes, called “compact tubs” or “mini tubs” that are designed to fit into small spaces or bathrooms with limited square footage.
Compact tubs depend on the model and manufacturer but as a general rule, it is designed to save space and typically have smaller dimensions compared to standard-sized bathtubs. But for reference, approximate measurements of compact bathtubs usually range between 48 inches (122 cm) and 60 inches (152 cm) in length in length, between 28 inches (71 cm) and 32 inches (81 cm) in width, and around 14 inches (36 cm) to 18 inches (46 cm for it’s depth.
To complete the look, the white towel ladder or towel rack matches the color of the white compact bathtub. To give a feel of a bigger space, a glass divider was installed separating the bath and shower section from the sink area, while still giving the illusion of an open space. As the sink, walls, and floors are gray, outside fixtures were also in this color to match the colors.
We like how despite the small space, this neutral colored bathroom was able to pull off having both the shower area and the bathtub in one space. Make sure to measure first your floor space before getting a compact bathtub to save yourself problems when it’s time to install it. You wouldn’t want to buy a bathtub only to find out that it doesn’t fit. Compact bathtubs also come in different shapes like rectangle, oval, corner tub so it is important to visualize and check the layout of your bathroom’s existing architectural features to make sure it complements and fits the look of your bathroom before buying one. Overall, having a compact bathtub installed in your shower area allows you to hit two birds in one: You get to have a quick shower, plus you get to enjoy a long bath when you want to.
