Experimenting With Dining Chairs

Have you seen a dining table with different chairs and thought “Wow, that actually works!”

Experimenting the look of your dining space by mixing and matching chairs takes planning as you just don’t put one with the other for the sake of having mixed chairs. It needs to have a plan in mind about the overall look of your kitchen space, and consider a unifying element such as a similar color, material, or style, that ties the chairs together to help create a sense of unity and cohesiveness.

If you are not yet ready to go for a totally assorted type of dining chairs, you can start with combining two types of chairs for your dining area.

A good example is this main dining room. Using a simple, wooden minimalist type of dining set, it added two stainless chairs on the opposite head of the tables, which are designed similarly to the existing dining set. Notice how you didn’t get to notice the two stainless chairs upon first glance? That means it was so well put together that it did not feel that it was out of place with the room’s overall theme and style. This actually works because it considers the overall look of the place. The wooden chairs matched the color of the floor, while the stainless chairs blended well with the overall look of the dining area that combined the neutral colors of white, gray, and black in its frames, glass dividers, art works, kitchen walls and storage.

You can also use bright colored chairs that add pops of color to a neutral room. But complement the chairs by also adding color into the other parts of the area like a matching artwork having the same chair colors, flowers on the window sill, or a colorful vase. This adds a cheerful look to the dining space.

When it comes to experimenting with your furniture, always go for striking balance between cohesion and visual interest to make an interesting dining area, and leave your dinner guests in awe.
