We love how living rooms seem like an introduction to one’s personality. Zoom out a little and you can already tell how this living room is reflected by someone who loves reading and nature.
This living room played up its space by using a neutral colored backless couch with orange throw pillows as contrast. Backless couch makes a good option for small spaces as it allows design flexibility, and can double as a hangout couch and a reading nook.
Speaking of reading nooks, a small, two-level low shelf was used to store books. This makes the shelf a functional decoration of the space, as one can easily reach for the books to read with less movements in the space. We love how the low shelf did not cause obstruction to the window, as it welcomes more natural light in the room, filtered by its sheer curtains.
Accessorizing your living room space is just as important. Proportion and layering plays an important factor in small spaces, and you don’t want to put too many things here and there as you don’t want things to look cluttered. You want enough space to move comfortably around. A round side table was used as the main coffee table decorated with a small potted plant on a trinket tray. Wooden plant stands were used on the sides to showcase other plants to keep up with the room’s reading and nature theme. Patterned textured and plush rugs were combined together to add a visual depth, making the room more interesting.
Since the room is going for an easy-going vibe, a framed poster was used as the room’s accent wall to complement and finish off the room’s warm and relaxed vibe. From the look of its overall design, this living room’s energy makes you want to get invited again next time.
