How a Kitchen Backsplash Can Add to Kitchen Appeal

Kitchen backsplash seem like decorative, architectural features of the kitchen but it’s more than just a kitchen aesthetic.

The kitchen backsplash is a protective element that is installed on the wall behind the sink, stove, or countertop in the kitchen. Kitchen backsplash from the word itself, protects the “back” of the kitchen against splashes, stains, and moisture that tend to happen while cooking and preparing different types of food.

While some may not be familiar with the term kitchen backsplash, many homeowners have seen the importance of having one in their own kitchen to protect its kitchen walls. Without the kitchen backsplash, your walls, particularly the area where you cook would be prone to wall stains and damage, which makes it difficult to clean, and in the long run, ruining the overall look of your kitchen.

Instead of a regular painted cement wall, kitchen backsplashes can be made up of different materials like ceramic and porcelain usually in tiles, or glass, stainless steel, marble, or granite and depending on your kitchen theme, it can even be made up of reclaimed wood.

This modern kitchen’s color palette used a combination of neutral colors of white, silver, gray, and black, with black and silver as its kitchen appliances prominent colors. We like the look of its kitchen backsplash as it used tiled marble to be its main material to protect the kitchen. It also looked like a kitchen accent wall, considering that the backsplash portion covered other wall parts of the kitchen, beyond the cooking top but as well as the other wall parts of the counter.

Aside from its prominent features like the white storage cabinets, drawers, kitchen islands and countertop, adding charm and warmth to the kitchen are small pops of color from its small indoor plants and the fruits on display.

When choosing a backsplash, do your research about the material. If you’re going for natural stone, make sure it is properly sealed. Using textured backsplash also adds to the kitchen appeal as demonstrated in this kitchen. This gives a nice hint of a nice outdoorsy feeling despite being inside a modern home.
